Scripture Text: Hebrews 4:15
We live most of our lives based on feelings and emotions. We weep, we smile, we shout, and we clap. Sometimes we get angry, and we may even curse or get violent. We mourn, we get depressed and then sometimes we feel nothing at all. Every thought we have forces one of these characteristics to surface. Our emotions express our thoughts and beliefs on every circumstance we are confronted with. When something good happens, we react with excitement. We can't wait to tell others about what has happened. On the other hand, when something bad happens, we react with anger, fear or disappointment. These feelings surface when things aren't going the way we think they should. Eventually they take control of our thoughts and actions if we don't get a hold on them. Eventually our negative emotions, if uncontrolled, will transform from feelings into a condition. We become very cold, troubled and hurt. Feeling that it would be better to deal with this on our own rather than allowing others to find out what kind of state we're in leads to pride. Emotions are feelings, but pride is a condition. Emotions must be controlled; pride must be broken. We build a wall of pride only God can break down. If you allow your emotions to transform into a condition, they become beyond your control. Jesus knows how you feel in every circumstance you face. Our Scripture text says, "For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin."
